Everyday companion under § 87b of Social Insurance Code XI (MobiCoach)

People with dementia, mental disorders or disability have an increased need of attention and care by others.

Within the § 87b of Social Security Code XI, nursing facilities hire care assistants who need to work in close cooperation with care professional and their consultation in order to improve nursing and life quality of persons in need.  Devotion, additional care and activation they are enabled them to appreciate life more, put themselves in contact with others and arouse their participation in social life in commchurch servicesunity.

As a care assistant, or rather everyday companion, besides basic care, you need to motivate people in need to excercise following activities:

  • painting and handcrafts
  • doing manual activities and gardening
  • feeding and taking care of pets
  • cooking and baking
  • creating memory books
  • listening to music, making music, singing
  • playing board and card games
  • walking and making trips
  • making excercises and dancing in a group
  • going to exhibitions, sport events, church services and cementaries
  • reading and reading aloud
  • viewing photos

Care assistants should be available to the people in need in order to make conversations about everyday life, and soften their fears and concerns by means of their presence. First care support act of 01.01.2015 coming into force enabled very good professional perspectives due to the fact additional care and relief services were expanded and extended for all concerned persons.


A) Basics

  • Basic knowledge of communication and interaction taking into account particular requirements to communication and contact with persons with dementia, mental disorders or disabilities
  • Basic knowledge about dementia disease, mental disorders and disabilities as well as typical aging conditions as diabetics, degenerative diseases affecting movement and their treatment options
  • Basic knowledge of care and documentation (help by food intake, contact with incontinence, pain and wounds etc.) as well as hygiene requirements with regard to care activity to estimate the dependancy on care and nursing
  • First aid course and behaviour by emergencies

  • Deepening of knowledge, methods and techniques about the behaviour, communication and ways of handling of persons in need
  • Legal studies (basic knowledge of liability law and guardianship law, secrecy, data protection and charter of rights for people in need of assistance and care)
  • Housekeeping and dietetics with particular focus on diets and food intolerances
  • Activities and leasure time possibilities for people with dementia
  • Movement and excercises for people with dementia, mental disorders and disabilities; communication and cooperation with parties concerned, that is nursing assistant, family members and volunteers

D) Written and oral end exam


Thanks to the participation in our course you get required knowledge and abilities in order to become an assistant active in various areas in ambulant and stationary nursing organisations and retirement homes.

Qualification: qualified certificate (AZAV-certified)


Conditions of entry

Empathy as well as possitive attitute towards menal ill and people in need as well as reliability, resiliance and collaborative skills are required.
Individual suitability will be assessed by means of intern test.

Funding possibilities

If you have valid activation and placement voucher, your coaching is available free of charge.
In order to apply for activation and placement voucher please contact relevant Job Centre or Job Agency consultant.
Costs for direct payers should be discussed with contact person of trias gGmbH.

Course duration

  • 180 lesson hours (about 5 – 6 weeks)
  • 80 hours of internship

A part-time participation is possible after prior consultation. The course is respectively extended.
